Call Me Fatty! tells the story of silent-film great Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. The show opens behind the pearly gates
at Roscoe Arbuckle's Plantation Club, where plans are underway for a big party celebrating the nightclub's 75th year in heaven.
After Arbuckle finishes a rousing comedy routine, he is joined by his best friend and Master of Ceremonies, Buster Keaton,
who proceeds to mark the occasion by letting the heavenly crowd in on the true story of what happened to his infamous pal.
Through skits, music, hijinks, and heartbreak, Keaton and company (including Arbuckle, Mabel Normand, Mack Sennett, and
the Keystone Kops) take us from Arbuckle's tragic boyhood, to his vaudeville days "on the road," to his reign as
one of the most famous film comedians in Hollywood.
Act Two begins with the scandal that rocked Arbuckle's life--and details what really went down at the St. Francis Hotel
on that tragic Labor Day of 1921. Wrongly accused of murder, Arbuckle is powerless as the public turns against him. In the
scandal's aftermath, he mounts a spectacular comeback that promises to help him claim his rightful place in the pantheon of
silent-film pioneers. But fate, unfortunately, has other plans...
"Call Me Fatty!" is a tragedy full of joy, buoyed by Arbuckle's own spirit, heart and generosity--and a musical
designed to leave audiences with a newfound appreciation for Arbuckle and his achievements.
